The fourth event of the Lithuanian car rally championship “Rokiškio Grand Rally” will take place in Rokiškis and its surroundings on August 7-9. The extremely large list of participants, which has exceeded a hundred applications, includes the name of Petras Šiaučiūnas, who is titled the fastest Lithuanian farmer. He will compete here in a “Škoda Fabia R4”.
Petras Šiaučiūnas, after last year’s active rally career, paused and tried out a new branch of motor sport – drift. However, as the athlete says, this discipline is just a way for him to pass the time while preparing for next year’s Lithuanian automobile rally championship, to which the athlete hopes to return with a different vehicle.
“This year, the plan was to refrain from rallying for a while, save money and drive a full season next year. Before this year’s season, I said that I would drive two rallies – in Rokiškis and in Zarasai, so for now that’s the plan. Drifting is just a game for me. After driving a drift, I realized that you get very little to drive there, and you want more. Of course, you can learn sharpness from drifting, that risk-taking from the very beginning. I think that drifting will still be beneficial to me. I will start in Rokiškis with Žilvinas Juršius, we will drive a Škoda Fabia R4.” Next year, if everything goes well, I would like to change both the letter and the number in the name of the “Škoda Fabia”, – said Petras Šiaučiūnas.
Petras Šiaučiūnas says that he knows the Special Stages of the Rokiškis Rally very well. Especially those that stretch near his homestead and agricultural holdings. The racer says that only at first glance may the home rally seem easy, because this competition is characterised by extremely treacherous tracks and is called one of the most difficult in the entire Lithuanian rally calendar.
“I live where the rally is held, where the Special Stages are. I know them. Especially those between Obeliai and Zarasai. There are fields everywhere near me. Although the roads are a little less familiar to me on the other side, towards Kamajai, ”, – shared his thoughts the fastest Lithuanian farmer.
In total, during the two days of the competition, participants of the “Rokiškio Grand Rally” will have to overcome fifteen special stages, the total length of which is almost 150 kilometers. The route with crossings will exceed 500 kilometers.
The “Rokiškio Grand Rally” will take place on August 7-9. More information about the upcoming competition can be found on the organizers’ Facebook account and the rally website.
Before and during the competition, spectators will also be able to purchase the “Rokiškio Grand Rally” magazine. Such a publication is published annually without breaks by the only organisers of this rally in our country. Magazine will contain not only interesting, unique articles, unheard stories from behind the scenes of the rally, but also all the information about the start times of the special stages, the starting order of the participants, and the spectator zones.
The rally magazine will be available for purchase at the competition information center in Nepriklausombys aištės, as well as in the store “Intelektualūs komputeriai” located at Nepriklausombys a. 22 and at the entrances to the Special Stages.
