Spectators of „Samsonas Rally Rokiškis“ will have unique opportunity to see extraordinary rally car „Ford Fiesta Maxi Rallycar“ on 3-4 of August. Car will be driven by rally racer Teemu Asunmaa.
Although there was announcement that Teemu Asunmaa will participate with „Škoda Fabia R5“ plan was changed. A week before „Samsonas Rally Rokiškis“ Teemu will participate in WRC „Neste Oil Rally Finland“. So because of that there might be a lack of time for car preparation for next rally and arriving on time to Rokiškis. This was the main reason of changing a car.
„We had an agreement that Aleksey Lukyaniuk will participate with „Ford Fiesta Maxi Rallycar“. However his plans changed. As we and our partners in Spain were already arranging plans of car transportation this appeared to be a good solution for Teemu Asunmaa situation. That us a very good chance for us as for manufacturers as Teemu will have a chance to test „Ford Fiesta Maxi Rallycar“ with gearbox and shock absorbers made by us“ said Martynas Samsonas who invited Teemu Asunmaa to Lithuania for second time.
Spectators of „Samsonas Rally Rokiškis“ will have a great chance to see such a car on lithuanian special stages for the first time. Martynas Samsonas clarified why this car is so special.
„This car is produced in Spain by „RMC Motorsport“ company. Originated in South America. „Maxi Rallycar“ might have bodies of different manufacturers – „Ford Fiesta“, „VW Polo“, „Peugeot 208“ or „308“, „Renault Clio“, „Citroen DS3“, „Kia Rio“, „Nissan Micra“. That is most popular rally car in South America as well as in Spain and Portugal as its price is twice cheaper than R5 although technical characteristics differences are not that significant. Engine 1600 cc, direct fuel injection, 34 mm turbo restrictor. Six gear sequential transmition and „Samsonas Motorsport“ shock absorbers with motion of 280 mm in front and at the back. Car weights 1230 kg. Advantage of this car is active central diferencial which makes car much easier to control. R5 cars do not have this.“ Martynas Samsonas explained.
By the way Teemu Asunmaa promissed to arrive to Lithuania straight after WRC in Finland and participate in test drives of „Ford Fiesta Maxi Rallycar“ in Zarasai distric for 2 days.
